Following the leadership of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the staff of Millennium Anesthesia Care seeks to promote the safety of anesthesia practice to all our patients.  To achieve this goal, we strive to practice consistent with the standards, guidelines, and advisories published by the American Society of Anesthesiologist’s (ASA).  The focus of the ASA’s evidenced based practice parameters is to provide guidance or direction for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of clinical problems.

Implementation of these practice parameters starts well before the day of scheduled procedure or surgery at a pre-operative visit.  During the pre-operative visit in Pre-Admission Testing, a representative from Millennium Anesthesia will review your medical history, review and/or order laboratory data, review and/or order radiographic examinations, review and/or request medical consultation information, and perform a focused physical exam for the goal of providing a safe, effective, and efficient surgical experience.  The ultimate decision to proceed with anesthetic care and the planned surgery or procedure is dependent upon review of the attending anesthesiologist on the day of the procedure.

From review of the available data, introduction of a system for pre-operative testing is associated with increased patient satisfaction as well as reductions in unnecessary testing and unnecessary consultations.  The advantage of the pre-operative clinic is the ability for the anesthesia staff to oversee the laboratory tests and consultations for an upcoming procedure which leads to a reduction in day of surgery cancellations and operating room delays.

We are committed to providing quality and up to date medical care as well as communication to our surgical and medical colleagues.
